Juli's still got the disposable camera from Bonarroo sitting at her place, so until then, I thought I'd post some pictures from my recent camping trip to King's Canyon and Sequoia National Parks. It was a little retreat for some of the more outdoorsy people that work in USC's theater with me. These parks are kind of near Yosemite. While not quite as big, they do hold some gigantic canyons and some big ol' trees. In fact, here's some pictures of us in front of the 3rd largest tree in the worlddddddd!
Just one of those branches is thicker than most trees, so you can imagine how big that sucker is.
On our first day there, we decided to go for an 8 mile hike. Everything went according to plan at first. It was a pretty easy hike....saw a couple of lizards. but thennnnn....
In case you can't tell what that is (we were a little shocked at first, so we didn't get a good photo), it's a BEAR! We were walking down the path, and all of a sudden we noticed a bear walking along the same path, directly at us. We made lots of noise, though the bear didn't seem to notice or care. Finally, she went towards the stream. As we past, however, we noticed 2 little bear cub heads pop out behind a tree. Pretttty adorable.
After that, we finished up at Misty Falls:
The next day we started by going on a short hike and cave tour, and spent the rest of the day by swimming in the river. Here's a picture of me in action jumping off a big rock into the water:
We finished up the trip by going on a couple loooovely hikes to meadows and canyons and such. All in all a very good trip. I'll leave you with another big rock picture, this time it's a picture of Juli, Stu and I climbing up one:
